Ewart House extra care scheme celebrated its fifth anniversary marking the occasion with a special lunch for residents, musical entertainment and an invitation to the Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Krisna Suresh to join them.
Resident Marie Holland (pictured above) said, ‘I can’t believe that five years have flown past! I like it here, and it’s an absolute delight to have staff like Maria, Hyacinth and Sylvia. I try to be as mobile as possible and prefer being independent, so I have the least possible care support that I can.’
The Mayor praised the award winning design that includes solar panels and rainwater harvesting and highlighted the sustainable features that enables lower fuels bills to be passed onto tenants. The Mayor Cllr Krisna Suresh said, ‘The tenants are very lucky to have such a beautiful scheme like this to live in. And I would like to say to staff that we appreciate all your hard work at maintaining it!
Resident Mr Vijay Shukla who is a full-time carer for his wife Urvashi, who has Multiple Sclerosis, said, ‘We were the first tenants to move into Ewart House from private rented accommodation. It is a very good place to live, the building’s facilities are excellent and we enjoy living in our flat. We love our neighbours and the HCHA staff are very helpful. We are a sociable couple and like to get involved in whatever’s happening in the scheme.’
Christopher Holley, CEO of HCHA said, ‘I am proud to serve the people of Harrow and provide housing and support the independence and welfare of our tenants.’
