Harrow’s Single Homeless Forum was held at Harrow Civic Centre and hosted by HCHA’s partner, Firm Foundation. The forum provided the opportunity for locally based charities working with homelessness to get together and share some of their experiences with Harrow Councillors and staff. Speakers at the meeting included our CEO, Chris Holley, and members from the Association of Somali Voluntary Organisations (HASVO), Street Pastors and the YMCA.
Julian Saunders, Manager of the homeless charity, Firm Foundation which runs the weekly Single Homelessness Advice Drop-in Centre said:
“Harrow Churches Housing Association has been an important part of this service over many years offering advice and housing options for the 18-24 age range and have done so with impressive results. This particular age group have been some of the most vulnerable clients seeking advice and help. HCHA have been essential, offering access to supported accommodation. Their skilled support workers have proved invaluable in ensuring a stable and secure transition from homelessness to independence. Should funding be cut to HCHA, the effect would be immediate and devastating. Access to accommodation and especially supported accommodation is already extremely difficult for this homeless client group. Such a move would see many without housing and will result in raising the younger rough sleeper population.”
