The Ewart Gardening Club was started this spring by residents of Ewart House following on from discussions at a tenants meeting about the need for a hands-on green space.
It was decided that funds from the scheme’s social budget would be used to purchase a raised flower bed. Whilst all the other gardening materials were paid for by tenants who participated in the activity.
The club ran from May to September with green fingered enthusiasts from Ewart House, Richards Close and Beckett Fold joining in.
The tenant led project has been a great success. It has provided an excellent opportunity for getting outdoors, tending to plants and making friends. The project has also made the green space more inviting.
The raised bed has allowed those in wheelchairs to fully participate too.
And the great weather this summer has meant that theĀ gardeners were usually rewarded at the end of the session with ice cream or cold refreshments!
